Lateral Transfers

Lateral Transfers must be CLEET certified OR able to complete reciprocity prior to beginning of Academy.

Successful Lateral Transfers will start at Step 3 on the pay scale and attend a 15-week Academy.

The NPD Lateral Academy will include:

  • Red Dot Optic Transition            

  • Patrol Rifle Training

  • Defensive Tactics (including less lethal refresher)

  • SFST/Intoxilizer Certification

  • OLETs Certification

  • Active Shooter Training

  • Basic Patrol Refresher (vehicle collisions, mental health, de-escalation, reporting, etc.)

  • Scenarios (force on force, decision making, etc.)

LATERAL PAY SCALE

  • Date of Entry (DOE) $63,438 (start of academy)

  • 1 Year from DOE $65,976

  • 2 Years from DOE $68,616

  • 3 Years from DOE $71,360

  • 4 Years from DOE $74,213

  • 4.5 Years from DOE $80,270 and promotion to Master Police Officer (MPO)

  • 5.5 Years from DOE $83,480

  • and so on up to $101,566 at 10.5 Years from DOE

    These amounts represent the current pay grades for police officers and does not include college incentive pay, holiday pay, overtime pay, longevity pay, shift differential and uniform and cleaning allowances. Pay grades are renegotiated and typically increase annually.
